Limitations of Segment.com for Integrating Hybrid Apps

Our Segment.com integration works only for native iOS and Android apps. It cannot be used for integrating mobile apps built on React Native, Flutter, Xamarin and Unity.

You can choose to integrate your platforms with WebEngage via Segment.com through a Basic Integration or Advanced Integration, as per your business needs.

Basic Integration

(Referred to as as Cloud Mode on Segment.com)

Basic Integration between WebEngage and Segment can be configured in less than a minute. It enables you to:

• Receive user data and events data from your website, native Android & iOS apps in your WebEngage account.
• Engage users through SMS, On-site, Web Push, Email, WhatsApp, and retarget them through Facebook and Google Adwords.

However, with Basic Integration you will not be able to engage app users through Push Notifications and In-app Messages.

Advanced Integration

(Referred to as Device Mode on Segment.com)

Advanced Integration requires you to modify your platform SDK to include WebEngage’s library for Segment. Doing so enables you to:

• Receive user data and events data from all your sources, website, native Android & iOS apps, and server in your WebEngage account.
• Engage users through all the channels of engagement including Push, In-app, SMS, On-site, Web Push, Email, WhatsApp, and retarget them through Facebook and Google Adwords.
